It was just a few years ago that our biggest and most contented city didn’t give much of a hoot for its premier food festival. As any Sydney-sider knows, it doesn’t take much of an effort to eat like a regent in this town. With a world-class fish market and a fine take on Asian and Mediterranean flavours evolved over the decades, who needed a festival to prove what we already knew?
Well, desire has eclipsed need as a motivating force and now tens of thousands flock to the annual Crave.
In August, the full program will be released for our reading, planning and salivating pleasure. Fear not, we’ll keep you up-to-date the minute the news hits our skillet. In the meantime, though, this is what we know: we’re going to South America.
Festival Director Joanna Savill has long demonstrated her commitment to a broader understanding of culture through food. It is with sensitivity and no little sizzle that she’ll take us to Brazil, Argentina and beyond. Visiting chefs will include s Angeles-based Peruvian chef Ricardo Zarate, voted best young US chef by Food & Wine magazine and Alex Atala om of D.O.M in Brazil, ranked in the S. Pellegrino top ten.
Expect community events along with high-end degustation and a range of hands-on experiences.
