Ruocco's

After 28 years in the hospitality business, they haven't lost enthusiasm at this family friendly Fremantle landmark.

Editorial

Opened in 1978 by Matteo Ruocco, this pizzeria/cafe still offers some of the best value in Fremantle. The Ruocco family still hold the reins, with son Tony Ruocco overseeing the kitchen. They were famous for wood-fired pizza long before it became fashionable and they do a very steady trade in upmarket takeaway pizza and calzone. There's no canned sauce on these pizzas and indeed they make all their own pasta on the premises, which is why this is the venue local Italian mamas choose for a night off.

Aside from their wonderful pizza they offer an extensive menu featuring reasonably priced seafood such as their misto mare (selected fried seafood served with salad and chips) or griglata di mare (grilled seafood). An extensive pasta selection is available as well as beef, chicken and pork dishes. Their winter menu features rabbit, capretto (baby goat) and osso bucco gently braised in their wood-fired oven. This is honest, robust food cooked and served with integrity.
Finish up with their tiramisu or range of gelato if you can find the room. This is not the venue for a romantic dinner - it's bustling and noisy but very family friendly in the Italian style, so it's probably best to book for evenings.

Fantastic Food! The service isn't too bad considering how extremely busy they seem to always be!! Usually when a restaurant is busy it means great food and this certainly is the case here!!
