Editorial

Acting as somewhat of the meat in Western Australia's cultural stew, the W.A museum is the perfect contemporary platform aimed at sharing the unique history of W.A's people, land and sea. Established in 1981, the Western Australian Museum provides an incredible insight into both W.A's history and its environment. Situated in Perth's cultural precinct which includes the State Library and the Art Gallery, the W.A Museum's hallowed walls hold some of the state's most treasured historical collections.

From the outside, this beautiful heritage building is a true landmark of W.A, providing visitors and locals with a fantastic example of early W.A architecture. Inside, the Museum boasts exquisite facilities, adopting more of a contemporary feel. Although the Museum hosts some of the best travelling national and international exhibits, its permanent displays include: W.A Land and People, Diamonds to Dinosaurs, the Mammal Gallery, the Dampier Marine Gallery, the Bird Gallery and the Butterfly gallery. There's also a fantastic little cafe and Museum shop located nearby.

The W.A Museum is spread across six branches of the state, including; Perth, Albany, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie/Boulder, Maritime and Shipwreck galleries. With a combined total of over three million specimens and artefacts, you're bound to experience a magnificent wonderland of historical discoveries.
