Founded in 1985, the Art Gallery of Western Australia is the cultural nerve centre of Perth. Occupying three heritage buildings on the south-eastern corner of the Perth Cultural Centre, the Gallery boasts a truly astonishing collection of art work. One of the world's finest collections of Indigenous art, the pre-eminent collection of Western Australian art and design, as well exhibitions from Australian and International art and design are all housed within the gallery's walls.

Fusing a unique blend of exciting historic experiences and contemporary Australian pieces, the Art Gallery of W.A brings the art world right here to Western Australia. The State Art Collection comprises of 16,500 works in a range of media including paintings, sculptures, craft and design, watercolours, drawings, photographs and prints.

Aiming to cater for visitors both worldwide and locally, the Art Gallery of W.A not only offers free entry, but also regularly conducts free guided tours of the State Art Collection, as well as tours that operate during special exhibitions. There's also a fantastic Art Gallery shop which provides visitors an amazing assortment of literature to discover more about the art world. Not to mention books, prints, glass, home-wares, jewellery, fashion, cards and gift ideas. To re-energise your cultural spirit there's also a fully licensed cafe. 'Caffisimo at the Gallery' provides the perfect space to rest and enjoy breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or even a quiet drink.

Spending an entire day viewing and absorbing the magnificent collections at the Art Gallery is easy. With such an incredible collection of art and design and absolutely world-class facilities, it's easy to see why the Art Gallery is a much-loved W.A icon.
