Within the barely decorated walls of Poppo, proprietors may well have done away with pretension. What they haven’t thrown out, though, is a damn good sense of flavour. Combining the ballsy bite of Korean food with some Japanese-Australian staples, this place just keeps packing ‘em in. Veer toward Seoul rather than Tokyo; the chilli dishes sizzle while the westernised teriyaki choices are, well, westernised. Take a breath to squeeze in to one of the chairs in this bustling place; it’ll cost you next to nothing. Enjoy good chilli bang for your buck.
