Hold onto your pants, Austin Powers; this is one far-out trip back in time. As the name suggests, Hip-E Club is a psychodelic shook to the system, where ??The Man' takes a hike and bell-bottom flares reign supreme. Well, on a good night, that's what you'll find. The rest of the time, you can expect the usual crowd of retro lovers, out for a little Groove Is In The Heart action. But this themed bar does capture the spirit of the ??60s and ??70s far batter than most. Sure, it might be the psychodelic paint job, or the Volkswagen van, which now functions as a DJ booth; but it's the small details that will impress your weary eyes. Like the fact that it's encouraged to dress the part, with those wearing flares and rose-coloured glasses receiving VIP treatment.
Behind the bar you'll find a typical assortment of liquor. Pre-mixed drinks make for the easiest option when getting out on the dancefloor (no glass allowed), but if you're heading out to the courtyard to trip out under the stars, load up with a cocktail or two. Theme nights make for a little variety during the week, with student nights and regular happy hours keeping everyone socially lubricated.
