Niche Bar
Editorial
Everything about this place is calculated to make you look good. Soft lighting, clean lines and a soundtrack from the happier end of Paris Fashion Week can only complement your duds. Here, you'll look expensive. Particularly if you buy a round of drinks.
The cocktails here don't come cheap. The pear punch of Niche Nectars, a firm favourite introduced at the bar's relaunch in 2008, will set you back seventeen bucks. In fact, every tipple on what is, quiet arguably, Perth's best cocktail menu is the same price.
A small wine list offers a token nod to local vintners and a handful of drops by the glass. But, you don't really come to a place that plays Handbag for the grape. You come, darling, for the fun of a Chocolate and Ginger Negroni.
And you come to breathe in an ambience that is, while rarefied, rather tolerant and friendly in many respects. Thursdays sees a queer-friendly night called Flaunt.
Some locals think there's something a little nouveau-riche about the place. And, perhaps this is the sort of studiously “aspirational” joint that prizes labels over style. But, the fact remains, Niche is Perth's best pasture for dedicated clothes horses.

Niche bar was awesome! It had an awesome vibe, great atmosphere and good range of drinks. Was a good crowd and well dressed. Would highly recommend. Gone are the days of long lines and stuck up people in Subi and Claremont, Dodgy nights in Northbridge. Bring on Niche!
