Marconi Cafe Restaurant

An institution since 1995, this little eatery is known for its smiling table service (a cafe rarity) and its Mediterranean and Asian-influenced cuisine, particularly the chilli prawns.

Editorial

Chris and Anne Ockwell took over the running of this popular cafe (formerly Aria) some 10 years ago. They left what works alone, changing the rather garish decor to create a stylish and functional venue. Unlike other get-it-yourself cafes on the strip they have doggedly stuck to providing table service, ensuring that this Fremantle favourite is a drawcard for business people, anyone who wants to get on with their conversation, and mothers with only two arms. With clean and comfortable alfresco seating available, this is a great spot for people watching, or for being found.

Fully licensed and open seven days and nights till late with a seasonally changing menu, Marconi offers a reasonably priced breakfast menu. Their lunch menu features pizza for one, pasta, salads and upmarket burgers: try their barra burger or steak sandwich. Marconi has distinguished itself from other cafes by offering a more eclectic menu as well as chilli mussels, Caesar salads and other "Freo-style" dishes. Their evening menu is more extensive (and available on request at lunchtime), with a selection of more elaborate seafood, chicken and steak dishes. Marconi doesn't offer special events or other inducements, just well presented meals and good service.
