Trattoria Valdarno
Editorial
Trattoria Valdarno is just a hop, skip and jump away from the beautiful Swan River in one of Perth's most prestigious suburbs, but Valdarno remains unpretentious and warmly welcoming. Nestled in one of Dalkeith's charming corner shopping strips, this little Italian gem serves hearty home-style cuisine with enthusiasm and Mediterranean gusto. The clientele is largely gentile, middle-aged and bookish but this little local secret is far from subdued. Expect a lively and confident atmosphere, perfect for family get-togethers and birthday parties, but perhaps not the best place for a romantic dinner for two. Though the decor may be slightly pastel and worn, the quality of the food certainly compensates.
Head chef and owner, Enzo, has a culinary capability which ensures that locals return time after time. Try the linguine alle vongale with fresh clams, garlic, tomatoes and olive oil or the scotch fillet with prawns braised in a fresh tomato and cream sauce. If you can't make up your mind go for the old favourite, spaghetti bolognese - you won't be disappointed. Friendly service and a comprehensive menu ensure a steady stream of regulars, so make sure you book in advance.
