Sala Thai Restaurant @ Claremont

Thai food is internationally famous. Whether chilli-hot or comparatively bland, harmony is the guiding principle behind each dish. Thai cuisine is essentially a marriage of centuries-old Eastern and Western influences harmoniously combined into something uniquely Thai. The characteristics of Thai food depend on who cooks it, for whom it is cooked, for what occasion, and where it is cooked to suit all palates.

Editorial

Authentic Thai food is a rare treasure that is hard to find once diners leave the city. Sala Thai in Fremantle serves perfect Thai flavours and is now opening a sister restaurant in Claremont which is sure to be welcomed by the connoisseurs of the cuisine. Warm cream and burgundy walls, Thai artefacts and crisp white linen characterise the restaurant. It has a cosy atmosphere and serves dishes so authentic that they could easily rival the dishes of the motherland.

Using the freshest hand picked ingredients to create a harmony of flavours and textures, each dish at Sala Thai is a feast for the senses. The owners have enjoyed award-winning success for their traditional techniques. A favourite way to begin the course is with the spicy and fragrant prawn soup known as tom yum koong; guaranteed to prime your tastebuds for what is yet to come. If you'd rather a dish with less spice, opt for the equally flavoursome tom kah hed- a rich and creamy coconut soup infused with herbs and riddled with mushrooms. The squid salad and the signature larb gai (spicy minced chicken salad) are tied together with notes of garlic, herbs, chilli and lemon juice and is a dish you could envision yourself enjoying in the Bankok open air food markets. The signature dish is a whole fish that combines sour plum, ginger and fresh herbs with such tantalising fragrances it is a delight to the senses.

Sala Thai serves authentic dishes made with traditional and Thai techniques that could as easily be enjoyed in the streets of Thailand.
