The Bridge Cafe

The main theme of our restaurant is Asian Fusion. It is a blend between many different Asian tastes and popular western cooking. We want our food to be different, not just for the sake of being different, but to be enjoyed! We believe that good food should be affordable for everyone.

Editorial

This is a location which has seen restaurants come and go. However the trio of happening, young guys who took over in May 2004 seem set to stay, having hit on a winning formula so successfully they were Gold Plate finalists in 2005 in the New Restaurant category. Chef Benny Suwarno trained in his father's business in Indonesia as well as in Australia. At the Bridge, fusion cooking means combining Asian flavours with Western presentation, without pretension.

Some dishes have a distinctly European flavour like lamb shank wrapped in puff pastry served with herbed polenta and grilled baby zucchini, finished with honey black pepper sauce. Their most popular dish is the tender pork spare ribs in a smoky barbecue sauce served with garlic and chive mash and seasonal vegetables.
Despite the Applecross location, meals are very reasonably priced. What a surprise to see a change from those dreadful "chicken nugget" children's menus: the Bridge offers kids a platter of chicken satay, spring rolls, corn croquette, rice and side salad. They're licensed and BYO. Best book for weekends or do yourself a favour and go there midweek.

Had a meal here last Saturday, service excellent, food good but unfortunately were washing down the kitchen floor (while diners still there) and water pushed out into passage where patrons had to walk through to go to the toilets (ladies toilet floor covered in water..slip hazard). Also cleaning tables next to you with cleaning aid while you are eating. Should leave the cleaning of floors in kitchen and tables to when all patrons have left. Have been to this establishment several times but after the last experience don't think we will be back

Food is good but very small serves and very expensive for what you get. I raid the fridge when i get home after a meal at Bridges Cafe as i walk out hungry.
