Yellow Bird

A cafeteria of cool.

Editorial

Yellow Bird fits right into its Windsor end of Chapel Street location. This end of the strip has been slower to gentrify than its more polished South Yarra sibling. The retro chic of Yellow Bird’s eclectic arrangement of furniture and furnishings lends itself comfortably to it location amidst the hotch-potch of second hand furniture stores, vintage clothing ‘boutiques’ and ethnically diverse cafes that line the ‘lower’ end of Chapel Street.

If you’re looking for a great breakfast, at any time of the day, Yellow Bird is where you will find it. Old rockers mix it up with club kids while ambling away the day to music with attitude and a passing parade of local colour that originates from a combination of the nearby commission housing flats, an aging Eurpoean community and new arrivals to the area looking for the boho lives denied to them in the outer suburbs from whence they came.

If you are one to skip breakfast there’s plenty of other food going in the form of bar snacks to accompany your cold beer. Inside, a cafeteria of cool sums up the feeling and the internet terminals are yours for the surfing. Outside, the kerbside seating is yours for the cruising. Yellow Bird comes alive with action from very early and hosts a constant flow of interesting folk right through till the evening.

This place is TERRIBLE!! One waitress in particular had so much attitude and 35-40 minutes after ordering coffee, it still hadn't arrived - despite two follow-ups! The staff don't have it together at all, this is such a disappointing place but I certainly won't be wasting my time here again when Chapel Street has so many better gems to choose from.

I stumbled across this place on my last trip to Melbourne and it was very cool. STACEY doesn't know what she is talking about!! The music rocked and the food was fantastic - as was the service by the way. The coffee is right up there with anywhere else on Chapel Street. A must visit when in Melbourne...I'll be back for sure! Rock on Yellow Bird!

Yellow Bird. A space of creative and artistic presence, music to make you think and your ears tingle with delight...while all the while your relaxed, having fun with your mates and eating very edible food and sipping on a fine selection of quality teas (or alocholic beverages) whatever you prefer. Yellow Bird, Love it!
