Late-night beats keep this bar jumping into the wee hours.

Editorial

As you wander down Chapel street, an interesting thing occurs: it becomes more relaxed, more congenial and a lot more social. People are just less hung up on image, and are more concerned with having a good time than what their peers think of their new *insert-designer-item-here*. That's where The Social comes in. At the Windsor end of this most famous street sits this bar and bistro-style affair. Open into the late hours, it caters to a wide variety of folk, be that for a lazy Sunday breakfast or a long Saturday night dancing session.

A lot of what you find behind the bar can be found in any one of the many other bars in the area. Pre-mixed drinks, basic spirits and beers (for the lads) tend to be the go, with the odd cocktail or shooter being mixed for the occasional party or Hen's night. The drinks are reasonably priced, which seems to keep the crowd happy. Indeed, most tend to kick on here the entire night. Why go anywhere else if the music and drink prices match your ears and budget?

With a relaxed door policy, you (along with the rest of South Yarra and Prahran) will find it easy to gain entry and shake the night away on the dancefloor. DJs play a host of floor fillers every weekend, packing the dancefloor with people who frequent the bar because they know exactly what's in store for them. At the end of the day (night?), that's why this place is packed more often than not; simply, it's a reliable destination.

Reasonably good looking crowd, generally from the outer suburbs. Bar staff lacking in personality, quick to get annoyed and secure in their jobs, fairly relaxed door policy. Decore and bathrooms need a serious make over. Music, well lets just say chewing the already chewed.

I go here most Saturdays and it is ok. But tonight the somewhat overweight, balding fellow on the front door said I couldn't come in because there were too many men inside. This was about 5 seconds after he let another guy in. Not sure if Fridays is somehow different re: the crowd they want, or if this was just some sad little man trying to feel good about himself.
