La La Land
Editorial
With deep, dark red walls and an actual open fireplace, the atmosphere is inviting, bordering on decadent. The small bar, always manned by impossibly good-looking types, is at the back of what is essentially a long, thin lounge room stuffed with said cosy cushioned sofas. This thankfully means you're never very far from it.
There's also a small but perfectly formed private room out back of those moor intimate occasions, or just for really debaucherous birthdays that need to be screened from the public. The crowd brings in admixture of arty-farty types, trendsetters, and the more feral hippy types. Somehow this works, making the venue even more appealing in its slightly kooky style. And the music is never more than comfortable chatting level, making La La Land the perfect spot to settle in front of the fire and wistfully slip into Neverland.

A narrow bar with a nice interior. However, the sofas and chairs on both sides of the narrow bar made for an umcomfortable experience even when seated during a crowded saturday nite. The crowd was a sociable. Now for the drinks... The long island ice tea which I ordered was diabolical. A very, very badly prepared cocktail and extraordinarily over priced at $20. Perhaps the bartender needs to go to the gin palace to learn how to make a long island tea!!!!!!! 2 or 3 wedges of lemon/lime doesn't subtitute for the required volume of citrus juice or a sweet and sour mix. Addition of excess cola wrecked the drink too. Furthermore, the cocktail was not shaken leaving me to try and mix the drink by myself with a straw. Charging $20 for that drink is unacceptable especially when the gin palace makes a great long islande ice tea for $16 with their eyes closed!!!!!! Perhaps the bartenders need to sit in at the Gin Palace or Der Raum and see how cocktails should be prepared!
