Hoo Haa

places|vic|windsor|hoo%20haa
The only hoo-ha created at this slick Windsor venue is when they close and you have to traipse off down Chapel with your friends to find another late night spot.

Editorial

With a name like Hoo haa, you wouldn't expect such a comfortable slick interior design as well as a very reasonably-priced food and drink menu. In the new Chapel Street style, Hoo haa is located upstairs, so you'll need to keep a sharp look out for the single door street entry or you'll be SMSing your friends to work out how to get in.

Hoo haa is very well designed, with changing contemporary finishes separating the different areas. At the front there's an open lounge area with low-slung couches (dangerous for the ladies wearing short skirts and drinking cocktails!). Centrally placed is a large wooden island bar with stools round the side, and a generous standing area for busy nights. Alongside there's cushioned seating and tables for small groups, while the back dining area is perfect for large sit-down groups. There's also a rather cute rooftop garden section out back.

The Italian-style food menu is rather affordable, especially given the locale - although the Windsor end of Chapel Street is still in the final throws of gentrification, these guys are sensible enough to keep their prices low. But don't let the price fool you: the meals and drinks here are high quality. Cocktails start as low as $13 for the Hoo haa house classic, the Love Juice, which comes with fresh strawberry coulis, passionfruit pulp, Wyborowa vodka and finished with a splash of Chandon.

The general feel of Hoo haa is modern with little exotic chic; overall it feels very spacious and it's ideal for parties or small functions - especially if you plan to have dinner before moving outside in summer to the rooftop, or down the front to sloth around the wood heater in winter.

Had my birthday dinner here, excellent. Food was different, yummy and not too expensive. Great size portions too! The service was up there with the best Melbourne Restaurants. This place was a definite tumbs up.

Went there on Wednesday for Parma night. The waiter was really chatty and made us feel really comfortable. It was a nice night so we sat outside and enjoyed the weather. The drinks were fast and the parma was HUGE! Great night...
