Pretty by name, pretty by nature – it’s what you tend to expect from the newest Gen-Y Mecca-club.

Editorial

After opening in late October 2010, Pretty Please has quickly built a reputation as a new contender in Melbourne's weekend dance night fight. Part-owned by the son of music mogul Michael Gudinski, and with arguably one of the best sound systems in Oz, it's not surprising to see Pretty Please host some of Australia's hottest electronic artists. And we're talking weekly, kids.

So far crowds have experienced Canyons, Spinderella (give it up one time), Van She Tech DJs, The Aston Shuffle, Hook n Sling, Shazam, Bang Gang DJs - and it really is only just the beginning. But there's a lot more than just a good-looking line-up on offer. As you walk in through the dark opening corridor, you are immediately hit with a burst of pink neon reflecting against the oh-so-shiny floor-to-ceiling mirror. To the left is your downstairs bar, with its display of vodka bottles (pretty cool stuff), which leads you straight to the action room - otherwise known as the dance floor and DJ booth.

The inside is not the biggest, but what it lacks in raw space it makes up for in clever strategy. Tucked away upstairs is a very inviting lounge area and cocktail bar, sectioned off to provide some pretty cosy hideaways for groups and gatherings of the VIP variety. Also upstairs is the smokers' balcony, and even if you're not a smoker, it's still worth venturing up for the sweet view of St Kilda's beach and Fitzroy Street.

Fair to say Pretty Please, you've at least made this Melburnian pretty happy.
