Bar Corvina
Editorial
Located at the top end of Fitzroy Street St Kilda, Bar Corvina is directly opposite the parkland near Junction Oval (the old Saints footy ground) and has views across to the city, so you won’t feel like you’re in the thick of it. Although this bar used to be renowned for its wine list, having won a few awards a while back, the new management aren’t as fussed with their viticulture and it’s more pared back than when it first opened.
Regardless, the food is still good and the staff remains fast and offers friendly service. The favourite spot of many regulars is the large outdoor seating area on the street front, which is ideal for catching up with the neighbours over a coffee during the day. There are also two long bench tables with high back chairs that face onto the road, in the continental style that so few venues seem able to manage. With the free WiFi on offer as well, it’s also a very popular spot with geeks enjoying fresh air or those who want to look like they’re working while actually dredging through Facebook.
The inside sections have remained pretty much the same with tables and banquette seating along one wall, a long bar with stools and the main restaurant area separated by a low bar service room divider. The breakfast menu is quite good with lots of standard dishes like eggs benedict, while the lunch menu offers pastas and the dinner menu is more expansive. The coffee is also very good while there are a number of wines by the glass and bottle available (a mix of Australian and imported) with plenty of local beers as well.
At the end of the day, Bar Corvina is one of those relaxing venues and is perfect for just one or a large group.

This is a lovely place to have a coffee on the window sofas watching St Kilda, or a delicious glass of wine. And very friendly staff.
