A gastro pub par excellence, the Grosvenor Hotel has sports, beer, cocktails and damn good grub.

Editorial

Billing itself as ??the Jewel of East St Kilda' - as opposed the Glick's bakery around the corner in Carlisle Street - the award winning Grosvenor Hotel has become a much-loved part of the suburb's landscape. Located conveniently along Brighton Road (great for backpackers and tourists catching the number 3 or 67 tram), the hotel is a waypoint between the constant thrum of activity that is St Kilda and the more casual Balaclava/East St Kilda area. The Grosvenor has steadily grown a reputation as a gastro pub of renown, attracting an older crowd of 30 to 50-somethings and beyond, keen for a quiet meal and perhaps a game on the big screen or a round of pool.

Mid-week you can nosh on cheap parmas and other food from the grill. If you haven't overeaten, you can show off your two left feet at the weekly Salsa lessons. But for the rest of us, there's the (now) common ?all-weather smoking area' in which to catch up with friends, or simply enjoy our ever-changing Melbourne weather in comfort. The recent renos have also done well to invigorate the crowd, who tend to dress up on the weekends.

Tap wise, the Gros has a decent selection of Aussie and imported premiums. Cocktails also receive a good focus, with more movement on the weekends when larger groups head out for the night and want to party it up or simply loosen their inhibitions before heading down the road to Abode.
