Fabric Restaurant Bar

Fabric is the perfect venue for every occasion. Close enough for after work drinks, or to drop into for a quick coffee, perfect for dinner before and after a show at the Victorian Arts Centre and personal enough for corporate functions.

Editorial

Woven seamlessly into its surrounds and with a décor of warm, neutral colours, Fabric is aptly named. In a street that seems far removed from the busy roads encircling it, this small diner is still close to the homes of Opera Australia, The Australian Ballet and the Arts Centre, making it a one-stop oasis for those seeking sustenance in the city.

Locals love it for early morning breakfasts – perhaps a selection of poached seasonal fruits or house-made granola before a jog around the Tan. Those with more time on their hands can enjoy Fabric’s delicious eggs Benedict or decadent French toast with bacon and maple syrup before setting off for a day at the National Gallery. And don’t miss out on a great coffee to really get the day started on the right foot.

Lunchtimes see Fabric’s menu offer an upmarket range of toasted sandwiches, soups, salads and pasta. While simple, the food here is fresh, well prepared and tasty, with a good range of choices. Try the house favourite; ravioli with spinach, ricotta and fetta, or perhaps the risotto of the day. If you’re a little indecisive, defer to the cheerful, professional staff who will happily confide their pick of the menu.

Simple, unfussy food and a welcoming vibe have made this friendly diner an intrinsic part of the Southbank landscape.
