Delvaux
Editorial
A rapacious beer hall atmosphere or an intimate corner by the fireplace; a table for two or a function for hundreds - Delvaux offers diversity while maintaining fine French-inspired cuisine and excellent service. The traditional mussel pots are among Delvaux's highlights, particularly the Roquefort mussels steamed with blue cheese, cream and spinach, and for a Belgian twist, the Hoegaarden mussels steamed with orange zest, lemon, coriander and Hoegaarden white beer. A handy selection of sharing plates and main meals means the fare easily adapts to both casual and formal dining. Well-priced express lunches are available for those St Kilda Road suits with only seconds to spare.
Delvaux's stunning decor has an emphasis on authenticity with each of the elegant pre-war Belgian furnishings, from the beer taps to the light fittings, coming direct from the homeland. Belgian painters were even courted by Delvaux's owners to put the final touches on the renovations. The results are aesthetically impressive but also clever, as the versatile riverside space includes a garden, a large upstairs function area with great views, as well as cosy dining options for smaller groups.
