The speakeasy conjures up visions of underground, dimly lit dens filled with mismatched furniture and dubious types knocking back bootleg whisky. While this Chapel street eatery may have taken the name, this ain’t no dingy den of iniquity. This architecturally designed space is warm, simple and modern. There’s a small, punchy breakfast menu, however, it’s really best to experience their dinners. The European menu offers light dishes such as oysters, arancini and stuffed calamari. There are small plates like confit duck and wild mushroom pie and large plates which may include a beautifully done seafood spaghetti. The drink prices make up for the reasonably priced food.
