If your name's not down, you're into getting in. That's a fact when it comes to the trendsetter's swish Q Bar in South Yarra. You literally won't be allowed in unless you're a member. Panic not though, it's not quite like busting your way into Vanity Fair's Oscar night party. You just have to have the wherewithal to contact them via email or give them a call a few days prior. Then you and your mates can head on in.

Once past the clipboard folks, Q Bar is a full-on loud and proud club playing house till the early hours from 9pm Thursday through Saturday. It attracts a very glam crowd, with the obligatory fancy shirts, pointy shoes and more product in their hair than an entire Tony & Guy salon.

It's always packed out, so expect to get up close and sweaty with the beautiful ones. The crowd usually edges from late twenties towards early thirties. It looks sort of retro and futuristic at the same time, with sleek, white lines and black feature walls. Private booths offer some one-on-one time, but it's really all about being seen on the big dance floor. So glam up, be prepared and get on the door and go for broke amongst the A-list.

UNTRUSTWORTHY, you book your birthday, they confirm your guest list and 1 day before you're meant to go there they cancel on you.

Good place to be when drunk otherwise don't bother. Bar staff aren't very trustworthy disappearing along with your change out the back after giving you the drink and not returning.
