Katuk is split into three main areas: a small function and smoking area at the back, a modern kitchen style bar in the centre and a drop-level lounge/library overlooking Chapel Street. The lounge area is the real drawcard: from the door handle coat racks, to the carpeted 'stair couch' and scatter cushion area looking onto a large wall television, it's enough to make you nestle in and nod off, so go easy on the cocktails. Another great feature is the cushioned window seats in the far corners and bench area looking over Chapel Street - ideal for the sneakiest of people-watchers. The designers even added a complete Rocker-Barbie party, (yes, as in the dolls) on the roof outside, so if there are no plastic people to watch, you can make do with the plastic doll-versions instead.
Every Friday, Katuk has happy hour. Perhaps they should rename that, as it goes from 5 - 9pm, but in any case the drinks are half price, including the pies that are made at Mauve Fox, their sister venue in Richmond. Locals and residents and workers can also become members to get a 25% discount, which is rather handy. When the bar gets busy, usually on Friday and Saturday nights, it's becomes more of a standing venue, but early on or late at night, Katuk is a perfect winter hideaway.

Ahhhh, my first home! This place let's you make the night what you want. Big or small it's always a good time. Great service that ain't bad on the eye. ;)

katuk really is an amazing bar. a really relaxed venue that suits any occasion. one of my favorite places to hit on a night out.

Always a winner at 5pm or 11pm we can always get a drink and be looked after by the friendly staff...plus they never make us feel we are too old for it!

Funky place for a cocktail and the staff are really friendly. I recommend you get down and check this chapel street bar out!

Katuk contacted me more than a year later to demand that I remove my perfectly reasonable feedback on Foursquare or I'm not welcome at their Members Christmas Party. Thought the public should know Katuk's attitude towards social media and censorship.
