DT's Hotel
Editorial
DT's is a local Richmond pub that really feels like a local pub. It hoists its rainbow flag high and proud, but definitely does not exclude anyone who wants to come in and join the fun for the first time.
During the week it's a friendly spot to wind down and enjoy a beer, wine, spirit or mix, chat with mates and eavesdrop on some local gossip. There are pool comps, charity raffles, happy hours and all the things you'd expect from a local pub.
Come Saturday night it's a different story. You'll find the bar and tropical themed beer garden are packed wall-to-wall, palm tree-to-palm tree, with all kinds of personalities. The drinks are flowing (the prices aren't thinning your wallet) and the drag queens are entertaining their fans with all their favourite songs and shenanigans.
For an outsider coming into this bar for the first time on a Saturday, it's possible you may feel a little taken aback by the larger than life personalities on stage (and in the audience for that matter) and by the sheer number of people it attracts. However, the key is to join in on the raucous ensemble as quickly as possible, strike up a conversation with a stranger, and you'll be feeling like one of the locals in less time than it takes to say “that very tall woman just drank my vodka and orange!”
