The Flying Duck
Editorial
The sprawling venue is split between front bar full of oldies and trades, and the lounge where you can tuck into quite spectacularly good pub grub, including the likes of grain-fed eye fillet, slow-roasted pork belly and Tasmanian Salmon with rocket, pear and parmesan salad.
But that's not even the half of it, with a huge, tree-filled beer garden and glass atrium out back. With a mixture of long, wooden shared tables and more intimate areas for romantic dinners, it's a somewhat special place to sit out a long and lazy afternoon.
The staff are really friendly, and the decor is dated but charming - think dull red carpets and brown brick walls. In keeping with the local's focus of this cosy haunt, Mad Dog Mondays encourages punters to bring along their four legged friends. Probably best not to get pooch on the beers, but a real treat to have them at your feet in front of the fire while you get to rub shoulders with fellow owners. Thursday trivia night is a real draw too, with old school prizes on offer, including bar tabs and meat trays.
