Station Hotel

One of the old reliables of Prahran, The Station Hotel has stayed fairly true to its sporty-pub roots and avoided getting too posh like many of the other nearby venues.

Editorial

Having been renovated a few times now, the Station seems to have stuck with the pub vibe that is missing from most of other pub venues in the Prahran/South Yarra area, and while there is dancing to be had, it's more the daggy old-school variety; you remember, where people actually laugh and have a good time instead of posing and pouting like they've got constipation?

There are a number of downstairs areas, a small courtyard for smokers and warm nights and an upstairs bar lounge area - so plenty of places to get a spot with a few mates for after-work beers. There are large screens playing the latest sports coverage throughout, meaning footy, soccer and cricket fans will be right at home and don't have to ask for the channel to be changed, which is important on the weekend!

Tuesday to Saturday there are theme nights, with trivia on Tuesdays, Uni night on Thursdays with $2.50 pots and $5 basic wines/spirits, Fridays are Boss' Shout with $10 cocktails, while Saturday is sports all day and night with a DJ spinning up tunes on the dancefloor - one bet the girls are the only ones dancing. The Station is a popular spot for birthdays and has a large function room available as well. The bar menu is a decent pub grub affair, with mains of parmas, chicken and beef salads, steak sandwiches and the like keeping even the hungriest of fellas well fed.
