Kelvin Bar
Editorial
While Kelvin may have had humble beginnings, it can now claim fame to one of the best bars on the north side. The concrete and tiled bar itself is a massive beast that is rather hard to leave once you have made its acquaintance. Bar stools that have foot rests (thank you!) and height adjustment options are just one of the many small touches that make this bar a joy to drink in.
On entering you will notice that it's a little dark in here; once your eyes adjust and you haven't tripped on that first step, you can take in the sheer size of the place. This is no pokey Melbourne bar. There's a variety of seating options too. Black leather retro chairs, cosy armchairs or large couches are all on offer. In winter, a brandy by the fireplace and a game of backgammon is, in a word, heaven. Backgammon's not your thing? Well, there's a veritable smorgasbord of board games to choose from.
The drinks list is comprehensive and well balanced, and the cocktails are made to perfection. Set in the heart of lovely Westgarth, Kelvin's is a winner all round. Oh, and there's a small but good selection of unpretentious snacks too. Emphasis on the unpretentious; that's what Kelvin's is all about.

Kelvin was around a long time before Wesley Anne, Social Club, Terra Horse Willow, Joes Shoe Store et all. It opened in 1998 when all the mum and pop takeaways were there. There is no Marble in the bar. Its concrete.
