The Palace Theatre

The Palace Theatre, Melbourne

The three level grand theatre experience puts The Palace Theatre at the top of a touring group’s itinerary.

Editorial

Past drawcards include the infectious roots grooves of the John Butler Trio and The Beautiful Girls through to the West Coast alternative rock antics of Jane's Addiction. But The Palace's (formerly titled Metro) appeal also takes in dance with headliners such as Moby and Groove Armada playing to a capacity crowd of cashed-up-clubbers out for a good time.

Established in 1912 as part of a nationwide network of Vaudeville theatre, the building itself is located at the top of Bourke Street, but a stone's throw from the Victoria State Parliament and only a few blocks from Melbourne's traditional theatre district. It's the classy end of town and this sentiment is not lost of The Palace Theatre proprietors who will not tolerate thongs or chewing gum litter from their younger patrons.

For those looking for a classy locale to hold a private function, The Palace also boasts the beautifully designed third level room with separate entrance and birds-eye views of Bourke Street.

There are no pass outs available on concert nights, so best organise dinner before hand. Otherwise, snacks are available from the on-site vending machine. You'll also need to get your tickets in advance, as The Palace does not have an in-house box office.

I wish I would be able to perform in a nice place like this. I am currently learning to play a piano through rocket piano and as the day goes on, I am enjoying on the progress I'm making.
