Sarti
Editorial
In case you're wondering, the name sarti means tailor, in Italian. Appropriately, the building once housed a tailor's workshop and, well, the name stuck. While the fabric and measuring tape is long gone, Sarti has established a reputation for quality Italian wine and food, in a cool but casual atmosphere. Fusing contemporary design elements with a nod to traditional Italian themes, Sarti provides a mix of white linen table cloths and dark wooden floors, alongside striking feature walls. If you want a summer breeze to accompany your meals, there's a rooftop terrace which is very popular throughout the warmer months. Whichever option you go with, the wine (and food) embodies this mix of old and new - traditional varietals are given an adventurous make-over and teamed with the outstanding cuisine.
Needless to say, there's an extensive wine selection available at Sarti. Italian chiantis nestle alongside local merlots and cabernets. The staff seem knowledgeable in virtually every area of wine making, so asking for advice won't result in a sneer. There's also a full cocktail list available for those who prefer something with a bit more kick before/during/after their meals. The clientele tend to run the gamut from professionals on dates to older family groups, and Sarti's ongoing popularity owes a lot to this combination of modern and traditional, intimate and family friendly.
