Once discovered, Roxanne Parlour is a chameleon of a venue. Chances are you will find yourself climbing the well traipsed stairs one of these days, because the array of events that happen here pretty much covers the gamut. From comedy to CD launches to DJs. But live music (in several genres) is pretty much the staple. The young and the young-at-heart flock to this bar, not for the exotic cocktails, but for the dance floor. Feel like gettin' down at 3am? This is your place.
When it's not pumping, the fact that Roxanne Parlour could do with a bit of a spruce is a little obvious; however, one could be kind and say it's part of the charm. The ubiquitous red helps too. From the red banquette to the red 70's patterned light-fittings to the red (and yellow) tiled bar to the red flocked wallpaper… you get the picture. There's a warm burlesque element with a good dose of seedy sleaze - and I mean that in a good way. Standard bar drinks are on offer - and not at nightclub prices, which is refreshing. A small courtyard obligingly caters to the smokers who find it a drag to lurk in the laneways, and there's a VIP lounge complete with chandeliers.
