Since opening in 1878, the Queen Victoria Market has long reigned as the grand dame of Melbourne’s magnificent markets. Whether it's the booming voice of the fishmongers flogging cheap prawns or the to-die-for vareity of cheeses on offer- this is foodie heaven!

Editorial

The Vic Markets is a must do for any tourist to Melbourne and a much cherished weekend institution for locals who revel in its bohemian air of organised chaos. The quality and quantity of fresh produce on offer never fail to impress and delight. Equally fascinating is the aisle upon aisle upon aisle of bargain priced shoes, wallets, bags, belts, clothes, Australiana and even ducklings, rabbits and chooks, to make this a truly mind-blowing in-door and outdoor shopping experience.

Take time out to indulge in one of the market's world famous bratwurst (in high demand even before 9:00am!) or chow down on one of the heavenly hot jam doughnuts from the American Doughnut van with a freshly brewed coffee. Grab a make-shift seat in the side street and soak up the authentic South American music of Inka Marka. This band have been entertaining the crowds for over 10 years and you too will find yourself kicking back and enjoying a genuinely unique Melbourne market experience for many years to come.
