Before breaking ground in Melbourne, Match Bar built its home in London. And then, it annexed to London's rich-kid sandpit, Ibiza. What the business's last territorial demand might be is anybody's guess. We can be certain, however, that when Match Bar next colonises, it will do so with a certain kind of chic.
Also home to an upmarket grill, this delivers precisely on its wonderful looks. Which is to say, it's dependably stylish, not at all objectionable and rather expensive.
The business serenades a young, cashed-up market segment. Despite its extravagant pricing, the place has a little in common with poorer franchise cousins. TGI Friday's it ain't. But, it shares a love for manufactured novelty.
Wine is served here in an elaborate, initially fascinating method. You decant your own wine from a convincingly high-tech seeming vending machine. Match offers many wines by the glass, thanks to an inert gas that is said to keep full bottles stable inside the machine.
If you're not a grump likely to think, “I'm not paying good money to serve my bloody self” you might enjoy the experience.
The music is lovely. The cocktails are lovely. The food is lovely. There are few surprises at Match. And that, depending on your mood, can be just the ticket.

I was taken here by a friend last week and had a wonderful time. Lovely food. Really pleasant and friendly staff. Am now recommending it to everyone I know.

SERIOUSLY good cocktails! Great bar staff too, and the food is really clean and fresh - great spot to chill for hours.

Sure Match is great, good service, food, location, ambience but they do like to water down the drinks with LOTS and LOTS of ice!

Hey Don, Lots of ice wont water down your drink... Exact opposite. Cold drinks taste better than warms one with 2 ice cubes that melt right away. Drink em whilst they're laughing. Dont hold em in your hand for 45 minutes. Its sounds like you like warm, watery drinks. just ask for them that way. I bet they will oblige...

I absolutely LOVE this place. The best cocktails - really fresh fruit and they have this special ice for their cocktails that keeps them cold, but doesn't melt!! Great on a hot day on the outdoor deck. Andif you want something yummy to eat, the food in the restaurant is to die for - sooo good (I think a hatted chef now) but still really comfy.
