The Mail Exchange Hotel is a beautiful and somewhat imposing red brick building on the corner of Bourke and Spencer. This majestic edifice, the former Mai Exchange Building, funnily enough, brings a sense of grandeur to this somewhat soulless end of town. Right up until you set foot inside that is. This leviathan of Melbourne's architectural glory is now an enormous TAB palace with grossly nondescript decor that uses bland pub carpets and MCG-like lights.
