small cosy and relaxing atmosfere

Editorial

Situated on a popular lane at the Eastern end of the city in the bustling theatre district, Lucattini Restaurant is proud of its Italian roots. Easily recognisable by its large street front windows which peak at the top (allowing plenty of natural light to fill the dining room), Lucattini's is both welcoming and relaxed with comfortably quiet surroundings. An excellent function venue, the decor is simple and casual, though smartened up by white linens and comfortably cushioned chairs.

Lucattini combines both traditional and modern Italian cuisine with an excellent value set lunch and pre-theatre menu (offered until 7.30pm and comprising two courses and a glass of wine for $28). Start with an entree of carpaccio alla Toscana (cured raw beef topped with shaved parmesan cheese), or the calamari San Andrea (fried calamari in lemon chilli olive oil). Follow with a tempting pasta dish such as the gnocchi Pavarotti (potato dumplings with a Napoli, pesto and blue vein cheese sauce), or from the main selection the costolette d'agnello milanesi (tender lamb cutlets crumbed with Italian seasoning). Finish with the bigne al cioccolato caldo (pastries filled with creme patisserie served with a hot chocolate sauce). The Australian-friendly wine list is dotted with Italian offerings, a few by the glass.

I absolutely love this place! Best traditional Italian food you can find in the city.
