Chaise Lounge

A suave, stylish spot for drinking and dancing.

Editorial

Chaise Lounge Basement Bar has that old style Spanish boudoir feel - what the venue calls its 'genie-bottle décor' and it's an apt description: the deep rouge walls are lined in large golden mirrors and glass-beaded curtains, while the antique-style furnishings are offset against smooth late-night lighting provided by an eclectic collection of candelabras and disco balls.

Chaise is ideal for a pre-dinner cocktail, especially as there's no food menu, and its central Queen Street location is walking distance to many of the city's top laneway restaurants and theatres for those looking for an after-show shuffle. Choose from a large cocktail list, which has recently been revamped with some new exotic flavours, as well as a large range of import spirits and a tame but tasty wine list at affordable prices. Chaise also encourages group bookings for private parties as well as corporate events, and staff are happy to clear the rooms of furniture to cater for numbers and plan drinks menus in advance.

This suave venue attracts a younger crowd on Friday nights with its electro-house sets, and a more mature crowd on Saturdays (who might actually remember the '70s and '80s disco mix on offer). In-house DJs include The Infamous and Takse Stop who play the decks each week, attracting their own devoted following among the more hot-footed of town.
