Campari House
Editorial
Campari House's lounge embraces an aesthetic and a feel with which Melburnians have little trouble. To wit: cosy luxe meets industrial chic. Cigar-box coloured chesterfields sit atop polished wood, underneath expensive light fixtures and outside a cluster of private booths. Booths in which, presumably, one can misbehave with impunity. Drinks and small plates come at the touch of a button.
In the lounge, the fittings ain't cheap. And neither are the snacks or the cocktails. Some might baulk at a twenty dollar price tag which does not, all of the time, come attached to Melbourne's best service. Sometimes, just sometimes, Campari House doesn't match its hospitality to the size of your bill.
On the roof, however, little trifles like efficient service and cost are secondary to the exhilaration provided by the cityscape. Here, the pizza is very decent, the CBD is dazzling and the possibility of caring about anything beyond your own pleasure is wonderfully distant.
