Brother Baba Budan
Editorial
There are chairs on the ceiling. At least twenty of them. They're crawling with vines and antique lights. I love it. Insta-vibe.
Brother Baba Budan deserves a pat on the back for doing one thing extremely well and sticking to it. Staff at Brother are super friendly and produce a remarkable amount of good coffee for the dedicated cohort. The house espresso blend is Seven Seeds and there are a dozen other single origin beans for the enthusiast.
If you are looking for a café to mangez ici ricotta hotcakes with your Charlie's Honest Juice, this not the place. This is a cramped and occasionally chaotic coffee bar with the takeaway latte crowd in mind. Get in, get out. The plastic cup you're clutching is a proud reminder of your fortitude.
Brother had the honour/misfortune to be awarded a full 3 Bean rating on the iPhone coffee app and does get the “best coffee in Melbourne” tag thrown its way. Naturally, this led to the arrival of aloof haters who didn't like the coffee before they drank it. I'm certainly not the authority on the matter, but my latte and short black were perfectly proportioned and indicative of their quality ingredients. If you're in the area, this coffee is well worth your time.
