Alight at Kensington train station and pop into a restaurant wonderland at White Rabbit Record Bar, to snack and quaff while perusing the vinyl stacks.

Editorial

White Rabbit Record Bar makes you wonder why no-one else seems to have come up with this great idea. Not only is it a haven for lovers of vinyl, but it doubles as a very decent cafe and bar as well. This unique hybrid means you can snap up some second-hand rarity and then celebrate your purchase with a drink; perhaps the “Mad Hatter” or the “Teapot Dwelling Doormouse” will tickle your fancy. The split-level set-up sees you sitting amid the record racks up front, or head towards the back for a cosier retro-fitted spot near the fire, or even further out to the leafy and surprisingly capacious courtyard.

The little kitchen serves up a decent line of fried brekkies, shared platters (the theme continues with the White Rabbit 10” mini mix or full 12” mix), salads, wraps and toasties. There are always some appetising specials such as salmon fish cakes with dill and caper tartare and potato salad, or a goat's cheese and roast vegetable frittata. Breakfast could start with Coco Pops for the kids (or kids at heart) while you indulge in the brunch deluxe and try the savoury French toast or huevos rancheros. Or rock up later to sit among the retro ambience and the occasional white ceramic rabbit and enjoy a glass of wine and a generous cheese platter. Bands and djs provide the entertainment on weekends while at other times there is a whole shop full of great music for the staff to choose from. Requests gladly taken!

You wouldnt think much to look from the place outside but when inside this place is definitely worth going to. The bands on the weekend are great.

Not a bad lunch here. I agree it needs a clean up outside or some better promotion but really nice inside.

The food here is always good. Try the baked eggs or huevos rancheros for brunch. Heaven! Service is slow, but if you're not in a hurry, it's worth it.

Perfect for a cider on a sunny afternoon in their courtyard out the back!
