Glenferrie Hotel
Editorial
After having a massive transformation in 2009, the Glenferrie hotel is now a busy and friendly pub with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is reproduction Victorian involving lots of wooden chairs and tables, ‘crystal’ chandeliers and brass light fittings. All the dark timber and a large seating area give the interior a comfortable and open feel while still retaining that cozy pub atmosphere.
Perfect for large groups, there is seating for around 400 people and the kitchen is cooking up a treat. The menu is based on pub classics and the quality and presentation of the food here is totally up to scratch. Mains hover between around $20 and $30 with options ranging from pizza, pasta and risotto to roasted lamb rump, grilled Barramundi and succulent Eye Fillet steak.
Enjoy a meal and a cold beer or tasty local wine out in the beer-garden and if it looks like rain, and lets face it we are in Melbourne, don’t fear, the roof can close over and you’ll be as snug as a bug. But because the roof can open back up again it’s the perfect spot in summer to relax, indulge and enjoy one of Hawthorn’s favorite newly re-polished gems. And that’s not all, if you like it that much you can even stay the night in one of the tastefully renovated rooms upstairs.
It’s definitely worth a look in.
