Pepper
Editorial
The day begins early with breakfast and continues late into the evening. Tie the dog to the outside bench like everyone else and start your day with the breakfast for champions: a generous plate of free-range eggs, bacon, sauteed mushrooms and grilled tomatoes. A lunch menu of foccacias will satisfy any hunger, as will something from the specials board like the smoked chicken salad with nectarine and toasted hazelnuts. If you have the children in tow, order from the kids menu.
Opposite Newmarket Station, Pepper is the great place for dinner. Begin with a plate for two, and follow with the sweet potato, coriander and onion tart. There is a limited but satisfactory wine list. The menu changes every six weeks. Relax and enjoy being local, before ambling home.
