The Wick on Brunswick

If you're after a chilled, ambient very Brunswick Street atmosphere with dim lighting, candles and the smell of incense this place is perfect. Bring your laptop and hook up to the wireless internet network, have a sweet or savory crepe, a coffee or a few drinks and play pool, paint on a brick then sit back and relax on the old school, very brunswick street lounges and experience something different.

Editorial

Relax in art-deco-cum-op-shop lounges and enjoy a crepe for an entree, main or dessert. In true Melbourne style, everyone from grunge to royalty is represented on The Wick’s menu, whether it’s the down-to-earth ham and cheese crepe, the slightly snooty spinach and ricotta crepe or the spaghetti and mince sauce crepe that is surely draining Lygon Street’s business. This creative menu does well to provide for the individual and the masses, and even includes vegan crepes and breakfast crepes! The decadent will jump at the very smooth Berry White with strawberries and white chocolate for dessert, while those wanting to enjoy the delicious crepe itself should go for a simpler lemon and sugar combination. All menu items are a bargain $10 and the wine list starts from just $4 a glass.

The Wick’s intriguing space is part art deco, part share-house, and part my grandmother’s lounge room – altogether creating an eccentric yet relaxed atmosphere. Comfy couches and a passion for kooky lamps give the back area a smooth, soft, velvety feel, while the large front windows provide plenty of natural light to the front bar that looks on to Brunswick Street. Live music pulls a crowd after dark, while free wireless internet draws those sporting laptops in the afternoon.
