Munster Haus
Editorial
The ambience is sleek but calming; with a curved counter dominating one corner and plenty of handsome wooden furniture, Deco light fittings and a sweet set of flying ducks to add some whimsy. As for the food, the choices are made easy. Select a plate size - small, medium or large - and have it filled from the buffet-style daily selection at the counter. The seasonal food is made on the day and diners can choose as much or as little of each dish as they wish.
There's more than just tofu going on here, although the marinated tofu salad has a lot of appeal. Other choices on the day might include lentil shepherd's pie, chickpea bake, quinoa or sweet potato noodle salad, roasted cauliflower with chickpea pancakes, tempeh and broccoli salad or Indian rice balls. There are generally three or four hot dishes and plenty of cold salad options, many of which are vegan friendly.
Smaller breakfast and lunch options such as poached fruit with buffalo milk yoghurt, curried parsnip soup or goat's cheese and mushroom tart are also available. Desserts such as flourless carrot cake with lemon icing, chocolate and walnut cake or raspberry, strawberry and rhubarb crumble with double cream offer a sweet finish. The portions are generous and offer great value as well as being delicious, healthy and guilt-free.
