A bit of history, cheap drinks, and a jazz dance night at the Caulfield RSL.

Editorial

Remember to sign the guest book as you enter this handsome neo-Tudor style building on St Georges Road in Elsternwick. Caulfield RSL offers live jazz and dancing on Friday nights, which attracts a mostly older and well-dressed crowd. There is also a large bistro offering lunch and dinner throughout the week at very reasonable prices, with a menu of the more traditional but still satisfying variety.

There is ample street parking available as well as nearby Elsternwick Station and Number 67 Tram route for easy public transport. The large building has a number of areas, including an outdoor courtyard, and also specialises in functions and conferences. While the refurbished interior does have a distinctly 80's feel about it, those with an interest in history will enjoy the collections of prints, drawings and memorabilia that line the walls. The venue offers a large function room that seats 130 or can be split down into two smaller rooms to cater for 50-80 per room. The conference facilities also include: Internet access, audio and video, white boards, a la carte and finger food menus, a lift, and even a dance floor for the more nimble.

Like all Returned and Services League branches, Caulfield RSL encourages guests to become full members, helping to continue the important and ongoing work of caring for ex-service members and their dependents. Full members automatically get reciprocal visiting rights to all other Australian RSL Clubs (and there are hundreds) as well as entitling you to over-the-bar takeaways and drink discounts!
