Butchers Grill Meat & Wine Room
Editorial
Regal with touches of red and gold, with its lights throwing delicate patterns across the water, it would be easy to mistake this Docklands restaurant for a glittering jewel on the water's edge. More than a mere steakhouse, Butchers Grill offers meat lovers an experience reminiscent of dining in an elegant waterside pavilion, while serving a broad menu that encompasses not only steak in its many guises, but mixed grills, seafood, pasta and vegetarian options.
The generous space has a modern interior, while the enclosed timber deck makes a wonderful place for dinner on warm nights. Servings are generous, but those game to start with an entrée can sample seared scallops served with potato puree and sticky pork, or seared pepper-crusted kangaroo with mustard fruits and cabbage salad.
The grill possesses the humble fate for most of the meat and seafood - try raznjici (traditional shish kebabs), plump garlic king prawns with crisp tales, or spoil yourself with premium aged Gippsland Black Angus. The meat or seafood mixed grills are recommended for those with healthy appetites or are perfect to share, while burgundy ragoût of venison and root vegetable, stuffed capsicums or rabbit and chorizo cassoulet each have robust, earthy flavours. The scent of home-made crêpes drizzled in hot chocolate sauce and berry compote beckon requests for the dessert menu which also features mango jelly panna cotta with grapes and almond tuille. Butchers Grill will satisfy not only meat lovers but anyone who enjoys the experience of great, unassuming dishes enjoyed by the water's edge.

Went to the one located in Bourke St. Food great, Service was shocking. Ten minutes to be seated (no line, just us waiting), another 20 minutes to get a menu, then had to remind waitress about the salad and coffee we ordered.
