The Bopha Devi journey began in 1998 with a vision to create a unique dining experience to honour Cambodia & its people through food. Our 1st restaurant opened a year later in Yarraville. It was ground breaking for the area & our unique & stylish renovation has been a landmark..

Editorial

In 1995 chef, owner and visionary Chan Uoy opened his first Cambodian restaurant in Melbourne's Yarraville with the desire to honour Cambodia and its people through food. 10 years later another branch of Bopha Devi came to fruition in Melbourne's Docklands continuing the ethos of using the freshest ingredients with the simplest cooking to enhance their unique flavours, textures and aromas. Concentrating on a particular type of cuisine known as Khmer, the menu is an exotic fusion of Chinese, Indian and French influences. Relax in the bar and lounge area enjoying a beverage or dine in the restaurant on one of the many light, delicate and healthy offerings.

From the "little bites" selection, choose the k'dom: chicken and crabmeat rolled together in crispy bread. From the "wet" selection try the s'ngao chrouk: chicken or tofu sour soup infused with beaten lemongrass stalks, basil and spring onions, served with steamed rice. Follow with a main of char kroeung: your choice of chicken, beef, tofu or prawns cooked with lime leaves, lemongrass, tumeric, onions, bean shoots and capsicum, served with fresh mint, cucumber, lettuce, vermicelli, sweet fish sauce and crumbed nuts. Alternatively choose from one of the "flavours of Cambodia" set menus to truly experience this remarkable cuisine. A concise and moderately priced wine list is offered and filled with Australian varieties.

I was excited to try a cambodian restaurant having enjoyed other south eastern asian food for many years. However, I found the dishes I ordered to be bland, to the point I could only be bothered to eat half of my main. The service was unwelcoming, with the waiter hovering and showing signs of irritation when we took some time to decide what to order (new cuisine, too many new dishes to decide quickly).

It's one of the greatest places along docklands. The food is absolutely amazing and they all serve with great presentations. The service is the best, fast and friendly. I strongly recommend this place for those who are willing to give Cambodian food a try, you won't regret this.

I have eaten here twice, a hidden gem at Docklands, away from the main strip and the galeforce winds. Service, and food were fantastic, great atmosphere, cosy and friendly
