Editorial

Situated in Docklands New Quay Promenade and offering sensational views through floor to ceiling windows of the city, Bolte Bridge and the bay beyond, Berth Restaurant and Bar offers exceptional food with a little something for everyone. The decor is stylish, the service accommodating and thorough, and upstairs houses a spacious function room with private balcony perfect for hosting your next event, whether it's a corporate meeting, wedding reception or 30th birthday party.

Breakfast is offered daily until 5pm with all the usual favourites like raisin toast, or eggs Benedict: poached eggs on honey ham topped with hollandaise sauce. Foccacias are a staple favourite: try the smoked salmon option with baby spinach, red onion, capers and mayo, or sample one of the many salad, pasta or risotto choices. Starters include homemade dips with Turkish bread, Italian rice balls with Mediterranean salad and a balsamic dipping sauce, or crumbed calamari with a pickled beetroot and orange salad. For main try the twice-cooked half duck with sauteed spinach, crispy polenta and a sweet balsamic sauce. Finish with the white chocolate brulee served with fresh berries. The reasonably priced predominantly Australian wine list offers a few New Zealand varieties for contrast.

Had breakfast here while staying in Docklands. Every piece of bacon was burnt - one piece to a cinder. I asked for English breakfast tea. When it arrived the tea infusuion bag clearly said "Assam" . I remarked on this to the waitress who insisted "Assam is the same as English Breakfast" . This assertion was repeated by the waiter. Nice view , but I wouldn't eat there again.
