A great place for lovers of world music and anything African is The Horn. Dive into a unique experience of African - and most specifically Ethiopian - culture, food and music to give you more of an authentic cultural experience rather than just the usual night out at the pub.
The great thing about this place is the laid-back, genuine African vibe, with multitasking bartenders doing the cooking, as well as singing, playing and dancing up on stage. The café-style front bar leads you out to find dining rooms decorated in African style and musical paraphernalia. Out back is the open-air beer hall courtyard with live music including jazz, soul, funk, hip-hop, reggae, and of course African beats. There's live music nearly seven nights a week, so there's lots of culture to go around.
African beers are aplenty, with an extensive range of exotic cocktails and a few wines. And if all that dancing to the drumming and African rhythms gets you hungry, try some traditional Ethiopian red stew (Kye Wot), or lamb ribs fried with green chillies and a mélange of rich African spices. The food overall is very spicy and imaginative, and very reasonably priced, with entrees at $5.50 to $8.50, and mains at $14 to $22. Grab an African beer and join the party.
