Seven Seeds
Editorial
Now this place is a find…if you can find it. Off the beaten track and ages away from Lygon Street, Seven Seeds with its dark façade and humble signage is easy to walk past. However, once found what delights await!
In this converted warehouse with its exposed beams and brick walls, concrete floor and bicycles hanging on the walls you could easily be in Brooklyn, New York. Oh yes, it is very cool here, and that's just for starters. This industrial piece of heaven knows its coffee.
On offer daily is their house blend which is a mix of Costa Rican and Colombian beans. It's a smooth little number and has the most loyal of followings. However, you will be tempted to try their specials which could be sourced from anywhere from Tanzania to El Salvador. They roast on site in a small windowed room which is located in the centre of the store next to the light filled atrium, and of course they use the prized Synesso espresso machine.
Melbourne Uni students and staff, and those lucky enough to have found this place, have the choice of the communal table or wooden tables with metal stools. A couple of tables outside are coveted spots on sunny days.
Now, to the small but excellent menu. From the beetroot and fetta mash with rocket and pistachio dukkah on sourdough to the Andrews AW smoked ham, Dijon mustard and Swiss gruyere you can't go wrong here.
To top it all off the service is superb. Knowledgeable, friendly and super efficient waiters are the icing on the cake at this hidden away little gem.

The seeded ham sandwich is fantastic and even my five year old is eating it up! Very friendly and welcoming staff in this fantastic warehouse conversion. The Panama Esmeralda coffee on today is sublime....
