Brunetti Ristorante

places|vic|carlton|brunetti%20ristorante
In Melbourne, Brunetti is well known for its great coffee, traditional cakes, gelati and food, and is a great place to visit for that casual dining experience that is open Monday to Sunday, 6 am – 11pm (12am Friday and Saturday) Away from the hustle and bustle of the café, Brunetti has its Ristorante which provides an a la carte menu with true authentic and simple Italian meals.

Editorial

It's an institution. After all these years and all the changes, coming here still feels a little special. Even if the pizza and piadini are on the average side and the service can be sketchy, Brunetti's inspires a kind of nostalgia, for what, I'm not sure - maybe it's just the dogged Italian character of the place.

Part of that Italian aspect is the coffee. This is coffee that packs such a punch you'll be propelled into your day with gusto. The blend is called Santa Chiara, made from 100% Arabica beans and especially made for Brunetti cafés. For hot chocolate lovers their cioccolato caldo con panna is thick and rich and almost a meal in itself. Brunetti's style is cafeteria chic. Inside marble topped tables, black banquettes, and wooden chairs create a modern feel. The display fridges are filled with pizza slices, piadini, a small selection of hot dishes and there's a soup of the day. However, for most people, Brunetti's is about coffee and cake and biscotti!

Who can resist their choc-a-block filled continental biscuit cabinets? The bocconcini di nonno, the ,i>baci di San Remo, the fazzoletti, the cantucci, and the sfogliati have been bringing in the hoards for nearly two decades and their popularity is still growing. Likewise, there's those over the top Italian cakes. Towers of chocolate mousse, almond sponge, vanilla custard, coffee cream and white chocolate shards greet you as you enter the pasticceria and that's just the beginning.

On warm days the action is centered around the outside tables filled with couples and families indulging in the Brunetti experience.

The cakes are to die for. The gelato ditto. The best place for coffee and cake especially after 11.00pm!
