Rathdowne Street has long been home to some of Melbourne’s most innovative restaurants, however in recent times it seems as if some of the old staples have begun to drop their standards. Enter Lakshmi to shake things up a bit. This small and stylish eatery, complete with a huge depiction of Lakshmi (the Hindu goddess of all great things) is doing some very good food. You can either choose individual curries or order the ‘thali’, a platter with a curry of your choice, dahl, rice, pappadums, and all the condiments. The South Indian lamb and the beef rending are among the favourites.
